The
one place to go for official news and information about the sport. Play
Ball.

Huntington Beach NPPL Super 7 event has been a major
success
With more teams than ever before,
more vendors, more spectators and a lot more hype -
Pure Promotions and the NPPL kicked sand in the face
of its doubters.
The new PRO-League format proved
a huge hit and a massive crowd puller with all of the
pre-booked grandstand seating for Sunday finals totally
sold out.
Condensing the PRO teams schedule
to just 2 days provided the crowd with some of the most
explosive paintball they have ever witnessed.
The support from the City of Huntington
Beach is pivotal to the success of this event and with
their help we have again been able to make paintball
more accessible to the general public. This mass acceptability
is reflected by the amount of non-paintball media that
take time to cover the event.
Media Exposure and Public Relations
have always been a main focus of the NPPL Super 7 World
Series. In 2004 we exposed millions to the sport of
Paintball and to the Super 7 World Series. Today, our
main goal of media coverage goes beyond event promotion
into strengthening the exposure and perception of Paintball
as a legitimate sport to the masses. Last year we appeared
in the Newspapers as Feature sections; this year we
are aiming for the Sports Section.
Television Coverage
Fox 11 News out of Los Angeles covered
the event during their morning show "Good Day LA
Weekend Edition" which ran from 7:00 am to 8:00
am on Sunday morning of the event. The segment featured
live aerial shots from their helicopter capturing the
six fields, grandstands and trade show. They did a live
interview with NPPL President Chuck Hendsch over the
phone as he pumped up the free Paintball event and expo
emphasizing that it is fun for the whole family as 200
teams from around the world are playing for $100,000
in cash prizes, including top Professional teams from
all over the world.
KOCE TV of Huntington Beach (Estimated
coverage: 4,938,750) Sports Reporter Rick Mielke and
his cameraman filmed a staged one-on-one between Huntington
Beach resident and Team Bushwackers owner Ron Kilbourne
and Pro Team Captain Jason Mandle on Thursday, March
17th. The news crew interviewed Chuck Hendsch and Ron
Kilbourne on the Angel field regarding the growth of
the sport and the Huntington Beach event.
CNN are doing a piece focusing on
Entrepreneur and Team Owner Tami Adamson of the Femmes
Fatale. The footage they will be using is what our production
team shot at the Huntington Beach event and will highlight
the Super 7 World Series Huntington Beach event.
The producer of the Warner Brothers
television show "Colorado Explorer" came to
the Huntington Beach event in hopes of working our Denver
event into one of their shows. Together we'll be working
on getting some of the Professional Colorado Athletes
like the Denver Broncos compete in an exhibition match
during our Denver event for an episode.
Newspaper Coverage
We had every major Newspaper in
the region cover the event with in-depth interviews,
captivating photos and strong support and affirmation
of the growth of Paintball as a sport.
The Los Angeles Times (circulation
and sales well in excess of 3 million) ran two stories
on the event, one before the event encouraging the public
to check it out and one after the event wrapping it
up.
The HB Independent, Oakland Tribune,
Tribune San Gabriel and Orange County Register all pumped
up the event by boasting about the growth of the sport,
the HB Event and the seriousness of this industry and
included photos as well as statistics from the Sporting
Goods Manufacturers Association.
In addition to Media Coverage, we
ran a powerful half page advertisement in the popular
OC Weekly newspaper (Reach of 200,000) for three weeks
promoting the event and our sponsors.

you can become a part of the World's premier Paintball
Tournament Series, contact.

Safe-T Doesn't Have to Cost More
Sewell, NJ - How often have you
seen barrel plugs not plugging, but shooting out of
a barrel? Do you think you need to spend $10 on a barrel
sock to stop accidental discharges? 32 Degrees introduces
the best thing to happen to paintball safety since...well,
the safety. Introducing, the new patent pending 32
Degrees Safe-T-PlugTM. With features such as its Paint
PlowTM leading edge, deceleration channels, peg hook
clamp, dual lanyard attach points and Catch NoseTM,
this is no ordinary barrel plug.
Recently the ASTM subcommittee on
paintball sports published ASTM standard F2271-03 (Standard
Specification for Paintball Marker Barrel Blocking Devices).
This standard establishes performance requirements for
barrel blocking devices. The Safe-T-PlugTM meets or
exceeds all requirements noted in this standard. The
Safe-T-PlugTM is not only safe but it sells at prices
comparable to other barrel plugs without the many features.
When asked for comments, Gino Postorivo
said "With the unveiling of the eVoltTM, the world's
only all electric marker, and now the introduction of
the Safe-T-PlugTM our R&D department is clearly
demonstrating a wide range of talent. No matter what
project they are working on, safety is always at the
top of their objective list. Don't let the low price
fool you. The difficulty in developing this product
was the requirement to hit specific performance targets
while remaining affordably priced."
Players should ask their local paintball
supplier for the Safe-T-PlugTM by name. Fields and
stores should contact their National Paintball Supply
sales representative to stock up on the 32 Degrees Safe-T-PlugTM,
because . . . "Safety is No Accident!"

RAP4 .68cal Rifled Barrel
RAP4 proudly introduces our .68
Caliber Rifled Barrel. It's patented design is the best
in the paintball market today! The high quality of these
rifled barrels will give you the supreme performance
needed on the field!
Extreme Accuracy
Tighter Pattern
Greater Distance
Spin-Free Projection
Quiet Performance*
*some barrels are designed for
quiet performance. These barrels have 4 rows of 12 perforated
holes. The rows run length wise along the barrel and
are equally spaced around the end of the barrel. This
design allows you to shoot freely without giving away
your position.
What is a rifled barrel?
Inside the barrel (the bore) consists
of many fine cuts that follow along the full length
of the barrel. These cuts look like 10 sets of tiny
train tracks. The track portion is called "the
land". The portion that is cut away is called "the
groove". The purpose of the land and groove pattern
is to 'glide and guide' the paintball down the bore,
as well as provide a 'spin-free projection' to stabilize
the paintball in flight.
The following is a partial list
of the paintball markers that are compatible with our
rifled barrels:

Tony Savage of Redz Comfort Gear named Ultimate Judge
for GPL05
The GPL is proud to add Tony Savage
as the Ultimate Judge for the 2005 season. Mr. Savage
has an extensive knowledge of the GPL and has played
tournaments at the highest levels over the past several
years. His vast knowledge of tournament rules and his
extensive playing record is what makes him the best
choice to enforce the rules for the GPL05.
When asking Tony to make a statement,
here is what he had to say:
"Hello all, it's that time
of year again for the GPL. My name is Tony "ICE'
Savage and I have accepted an offer from Brian Barno
to become the ultimate judge for the GPLs. Having played
the GPL for 2 of the earliest years and referred it
for 3 years I have seen the progression of the league
and sport in the past 7 years I am glad to accept the
responsibility of ultimate judge. Everyone that knows
me, can agree I am a very fair, but strict by the rules
guy. Having played tournament ball the last 7 years,
the last 2 years at the professional level, I know the
tricks of the trade from the players view and having
reffed countless games including local GPLs, World Cup
5 man , 10 man and the first ever X-ball tournament
at Disney, my knowledge of the game and rules is quite
extensive. By working in the industry for the last
year, I hear complaints and compliments on tournaments
people play. It seems that the winning teams have the
compliments while the lower ranked teams have all the
complaints. My intention this year is to address all
issues immediately, thus creating a fun yet competitive
environment for paintball. The rules will be strictly
enforced with no bias towards any team or person. All
teams / players spend allot of money playing this sport
and I will make it fair to all teams that the best team
will win the tournament by playing by the rules. With
this being said the GPL will be following NPPL modified
rules, this means little or no bounce on markers and
no ramping at all. I know the number of ramping cheats
is out there and to give everyone fair warning, do not
try to use them in the GPL. Looking forward to a fun
and competitive year."
Once again the GPL is happy to
add the skills of Tony Savage to the GPL05. The GPL
is the premier series in the NorthEast. In its 7th
season the GPL is offering ALMOST A QUARTER MILLION
DOLLARS in CA$H and PRIZES. With OVER $36,000 in CA$H
and Prizes awarded at EVERY EVENT as well as overall
prizes at the end of the season. The GPL offers a 3-man,
5-man and 7-man divisions of play as well as a Young
Gunz division. The GPL offers 6 events spanning from
April to November which are hosted by Del Hobbies in
Petricktown, New Jersey. Del Hobbies offers the best
playing fields in the northeast including a NPPL super
7 field and a fully functional Xball arena.
For a complete list of details on
the GPL05 you can visit their website at www.gpl05.comor
call the GPL hotline at 484-951-6056. Also if you looking
for a great place to play visit Del Hobbies website

Russian Legion to hold Paintball Clinic to be held at
Hypersports Park
Hypersports Park of Orlando, Florida
(www.hypersportspark.com)
is proud to announce that the Russian Legion (www.russianlegion.ru)
will be holding a clinic at our facility on April 16th
and 17th. Subjects to be covered include: fitness, sliding,
break-shooting, running and gunning, snap shooting,
and team tactics. Enrollment is limited to ensure that
all attendees get enough individual exposure to their
instructors. The entire
Russian Legion will be conducting
on-field drills – this will not simply be a seminar
with mostly speeches punctuated by a demo or two. You
will be applying what you learn and getting constant
feedback (yes, they do speak English!) from some of
the world’s top players. The clinic will be divided
into two sessions on two days and will cost $150. That
price includes instruction, unlimited air fills, a case
of paint, and a commemorative t-shirt. Registration
must be done online at www.russianlegion.ru . Again,
enrollment is limited, so register early.
The Russian Legion will be holding
this clinic only one week before they will be competing
in the Orlando Open at Disney’s Wide World of Sports
as the NXL’s newest franchise, the Boston Red Legion.
Last year the Russian
Legion became the first, and to
this day, the only foreign team to win a major event
on US soil.
They have already dominated European paintball in the
European X-Ball League and many have predicted that
they will be one of the top contenders for this year’s
NXL championship. They are widely regarded as one of
the most professionally run teams in the world with
the world’s toughest training regimen. Many teams consider
them a model for professional paintball athleticism.
Hypersports Park (HSP) is Orlando’s
newest paintball pro-shop and field.
With 3 regulation sized airball
fields and one enormous woodsball field, HSP is quickly
becoming Orlando’s premier paintball facility. Several
more fields, including a 7-man, are in the works as
part of our commitment to constant growth and improvement.
Hypersports Park has already hosted two tournaments
with Crush Paintball Promotions www.crushpaintballpromotions.com
and Bullseye Paintball Productions
(www.bppinc.net),
two of Florida’s most respected promoters. Due to the
positive feedback from our last two events, players
can expect to see more tournaments at HSP in the future.
HSP’s pro-shop carries a full line of equipment ranging
from entry-level gear up to top-of-the-line tournament
gear from a variety of respected manufacturers. The
fields are open to the public and admission, rentals,
and paint are very competitively priced.
For more information about the clinic,
visit our web site or email: russianlegion@gmail.com
Again, all registrations must be
done with the Russian Legion web site

ROAD TO BURMA
First in EMR's Pacific Theatre series,
which will continue each following spring with the next
major campaign in the Pacific Theatre during WWII?
$50 ppd by 5/13/05 or $60 at event.
Compressed Air and CO2 included.
EMR is proud to present
The Burma Road
On May 28th and 29th, E.M.R. PAINTBALL
PARK is having their first Scenario Game of the season.
This is also the first game in their SPRING PACIFIC
THEATRE scenario series. Each spring EMR will hold
another scenario game based on the next campaign in
the PACIFIC THEATRE during World War II. This first
game sets the stage for the series and is being produced
by EMR with the help of their Museum Curator and Ref
Jim Masse. With PMI as their new Paint Manufacturer,
EMR will be using RPS MARBALLIZER as the field paint
for this and all events this year.
Popular history records the start
of the Second World War in 1939 but the ravages of war
were experienced by the Chinese years earlier when Japan
invaded Manchuria in 1931.
Beginning that year, Japan
began its march across Southeast Asia and slowly encircled
China; they
gradually cut it off from the outside world
Allied forces endured disease, monsoons,
and Japanese attacks to build the infamous 1,100-mile
(1,800-kilometer) supply line that still winds through
three nations-and old soldiers' memories.
The construction of the Burma Road
over forbidding, monsoon-swept terrain was an astonishing
feat. No less impressive, though, was the other way
supplies were transported from India
into China
during World War II, both before and after the land
route was opened. Goods traveled via an airlift that
became known as the Hump, and the accomplishments of
those who kept the Hump route up and running are truly
remarkable. With its immense manpower resources, the
Allies -- joined by the United States
in 1941 -- realized the importance of keeping the Chinese
in the war and to that end created the CBI theatre in
an attempt to stop the advancing Japanese armies.
This scenario is inspired by the
actual events that transpierced during WW2.
Come join forces with JAPAN
as they attempt to occupy and hold as much territory
as they can or with the ALLIES defending against the
Japanese invasion, as they construct one of the most
vital supply lines in history
The Burma Road .
MAY 28/29 26 HOUR SCENARIO GAME:
Details to be announced. $50 ppd
by 5/13/05 or $60 at event. Compressed Air and CO2 included.
The Burma Road Paintball Game outline
To make a Military simulation game
as realistic as possible
I feel we must mirror what has happened
in history.
The Japanese Amy started their aggression
in 1931 in China
and by 1941 had driven the Allies out of Burma
and into British India.
An American commando unit known
as Merrill's Marauders, operated in the jungles of Burma
to create havoc behind the Japanese lines, while the
Flying Tigers kept supplying China
by Air on a route that would become known as the Hump.
Unlike most scenario games where
both teams start with a base to defend, this game starts
with the invading team not having a base. But instead
landing crafts as their starting point.
In 1931 Japan
invaded and laid siege to the town of Mukden in Manchuria
a province of China
In paintball terms its attack and
defend like castle conquest only it goes beyond that
with any military occupation holding a territory becomes
increasingly difficult. Because the more territory you
capture the longer your supply line becomes .Hence the
invading team is awarded points in the capturing of
the town (or objective) during one scoring cycle .But
in order to earn points during the following scoring
cycles the occupying team must have a squad of players
Bring supplies from the supply base (in this case beachhead
and supply ship) to the captured one. Each scoring cycle
will be one hour in duration and unless otherwise stated
will have three recycles one every twenty minutes.
This gives the defending team options
on earning points by retaking their base or by capturing
the enemy's supplies. Further points are awarded to
either team for completing demolition, engineering,
communication, and assassination missions.
Teams will comprise of three groups.
1) The offense in charge of capturing
and holding territory
2) The Defense in charge of re-supplying
